League Information

Everything you need to know about the Alpe Adria Basketball League

📅 Tournament Format

The league consists of 8 teams from 4 countries (Austria, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia) with 2 teams per country. Throughout the season, 8 tournaments are organized in 4 rounds, where each tournament features 4 teams playing in a round-robin format. At the last tournament in May, all participating teams will compete together, where they will play for the final ranking and we will get a champion of the competition.

👥 Player Eligibility

Players must be born in 2014 or younger to participate in the U12 category. Each team can register up to 30 players for the season, but only 12 players maximum can participate in each tournament.

🏀 Game Rules

  • 4 vs 4 format on the court
  • Size 6 basketball, standard 305cm hoops
  • 4 x 8 minute quarters with clock stoppages
  • A/B/C/D rotation system (each player plays max 2 quarters)
  • 1 timeout per quarter per team
  • Bonus free throws after 5 team fouls

🏆 Scoring System

Points are awarded using the FIBA system. All games from tournaments count towards final standings. In case of equal points, head-to-head results determine ranking, followed by point difference.

📜 League History

The Alpe Adria basketball league has its roots in the late 1990s, formerly known as "No Borders Basketball". This renewed project brings together the best youth teams from the Alpine region to promote international cooperation and basketball development.
